What Would Machiavelli Say About Blackwater?

Blackwater mercenaries have a license to kill in Iraq? Sounds pretty corrupt! When will their license extend to the Continental United States? Ruled by mercenaries — that would be sweet justice for the warmongering fools who call themselves good Americans. Oh, excuse me, not mercenaries, “contractors.” Well what is a killer with a contract but a mercenary?

Machiavelli said mercenaries are “useless and dangerous,” and warned those who would rely upon them:
One who holds his state based on their strength of arms will stand neither firm nor safe. They are disunited, ambitious, ill-disciplined, unfaithful, valiant before friends, cowardly before enemies. In peace they rob you, and in war, they abandon you to the enemy.

Here's an excellent video about Blackwater that will make your curls straighten out.
